Election day must be public holiday-BNF

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Botswana National Front (BNF) council candidate for Botshabelo West, Otsile Magaga has urged government to declare general elections day a public holiday.

Speaking during a political rally at General Freedom Square over the weekend, Magaga argued that on elections day, people are making decisions that affect their lives and they should have ample time to think hard about decisions they are taking.

He observed that the intention of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is to widen the gap between the rich and the poor. Magaga also said that councils should be independent bodies because it would empower them to improve service delivery. "BNF has strong policies that will develop the lives of Batswana. If we are given a chance to rule, we shall introduce a living wage and education will be free and compulsory. People spend the whole day at Labour offices looking for jobs because the quality of education they were given is poor," he said. Magaga said this is a sign of a country that is ruled by a party that does not have ideas.
