Eight-year-old boy found dead

SELEBI-PHIKWE: An eight-year-old boy, a pupil at one of the primary schools in the town, was found dead on Tuesday at Phase One.

Selebi-Phikwe Police Station Commander, Superintendent Victor Nlebesi, told Mmegi this week that the child was discovered by his father. He explained that the father to the deceased also found his-33-year old girlfriend lying unconscious next to the body of the boy.

He then reported the matter to the police. Nlebesi said when the man arrived at their residence in Phase One, he discovered the two, who appeared to have been attacked, with the child lying motionless next to the comatose woman.  Nlebesi said the man returned home from work after trying to call hisgirlfriend on her mobile phone but she was not picking up. He confirmed that the woman, who is not the mother of the deceased child, has been hospitalised at Selebi-Phikwe Government Hospital.  He stated that at the moment no one knows exactly what happened and investigations are continuing. He added that they have not yet arrested anyone in connection with the incident.
