Education Ministry Denies Contract With Catholics

The Ministry of Education has denied having a special agreement with the Catholic Church concerning a quota for admission to Mater Spei College in Francistown.

Answering a question in Parliament last week, the Assistant Minister of Education, Moggie Mbaakanyi said: "There is no agreed quota between my ministry and the Catholic Church on students to be admitted to Mater Spei College for From 4".

Mbaakanyi told Parliament that instead there is an understanding that "where feasible, Catholic students will be admitted to Mater Spei provided they satisfy requirements for admission into Form 4".
