Drug shortage persists in Selebi-phikwe

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Residents of Selebi-Phikwe have raised concern about shortage of drugs in local clinics especially Tapologo clinic.

One of the residents, Dimpho Koolathe complained that they are always referred to Selebi-Phikwe Government Hospital because the local clinics do not have drugs. He explained that they are forced to walk long distances because in most instances, they do not even have taxi fare and the clinic does not assist them with transport. He also lambasted Tapologo clinic staff for being rude to patients.

Koolathe said when patients enquire why it is taking so long for the clinic to stock drugs, they get a rude response from the staff. He added that clinics also send patients to the hospital for blood samples.For her part, Selebi-Phikwe Government Hospital representative, Tshepiso Mothupi admitted that there are still faced with shortage of drugs at all the medical centers. She explained that the programme that is being used is still new to them and it will take time for them to be familiar with its use.
