Drama as police raid G-West vendors

Matters nearly got out of hand when members of the public protested that the police were harassing 'innocent' Batswana women who are trying to earn a living for themselves. The police were told to focus their attention on Zimbabwean commercial sex workers who are doing roaring business at the mall.
However, the police ignored the appeals and told the self-appointed lawyers to mind their own business or risk arrest. The police arrested the vendors and took them to the station where they spent most of the night. They were only released when they paid fines. The following day, it was business as usual for the women. The vendors have vowed to fight to the bitter end. They said they would never stop trading at the Gaborone West Mall.
