Dow takes on Mangole

After falling out with Bakgatla paramount chief, Kgafela Kgafela, former High Court Judge Unity Dow is preparing to wrestle the Kgatleng West constituency from Gilbert Mangole.

Mmegi is reliably informed that Dow, who joined the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) two months ago, is working day and night to win the Kgatleng West parliamentary seat come 2014. The animosity between the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) and the Umbrella bloc outfits, the Botswana National Front (BNF) and the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) following the collapse of their talks last December, has given her campaign a confidence boost.

Sources close to Dow reveal that although she lives in Oodi, Kgatleng East, her roots are in the west, particularly Rasesa and Leshibitse.  Asked where she will stand, she said that she has to wait for the delimitation exercise and the party's decision, among other things. "But my interest is Kgatleng. Where in Kgatleng is still to be decided," she said.Should she move to the east, Dow will face Isaac Mabiletsa who recently defected from the BNF to the BCP.
