Domkrag MPs are gagged - Saleshando

As the debate on the Constitutional Amendment Bill (No 15 of 2011) entered its third week in Parliament yesterday, the Member of Parliament for Gaborone South, Dumelang Saleshando (BCP), called for the setting of minimum qualifications for MPs.

In part, the bill seeks a law to declare a vacancy in the event of an MP defecting from one party to another.

"People just come here and sit, spending five years without saying anything," he said. "This House should set minimum qualifications for MPs in order to fight the risks that come into voting
