Domkgrag whines as BNF and BCP sweep the boards at GCC elections

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) this week failed to convince the opposition Botswana Congress Party (BCP) to connive with it to overthrow the Botswana National Front (BNF) from the leadership of the Gaborone City Council.

The BDP subsequently withdrew from the mayoral elections and watched as the BNF retained the Mayor's and Deputy Mayor's seats unopposed and the BCP swept the boards in committee elections.

Patently frustrated, BDP Councillor for Ledumang Dominic Gombalume told Mmegi yesterday: "We had to look at the numbers and take into consideration our integrity and the integrity of the party (BDP). We do not want bad publicity because tomorrow the media could say the BDP had lost."
