DK tables Public Service Bill

The Public Service Bill aimed at aligning the laws governing the public service with Botswana labour laws, was presented in Parliament on Wednesday by the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Daniel Kwelagobe.

To facilitate the implementation of unionisation, the Bill merges the Public Service Act, the Teaching Service Act, parts of the Tribal Land Act and the Unified Local Government Service Act.

According to the extraordinary Gazette, the Bill sets out the structure and composition of the new public service as well as the general principles and standards, which will apply to such service in order to ensure its efficiency and effectiveness.
