Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) chairperson and Member of Parliament (MP) for Molepolole South Daniel Kwelagobe has been identified as a major hurdle in the bid by the opposition Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) to win votes in the constituency.

BMD councillor for Boribamo West in Molepolole, Moses Mmualefhe told party supporters during a rally near the Big Five Lodge in Mogoditshane on Saturday that it was still difficult to win voters in Kwelagobe's constituency as the people are still loyal to him. "I do not know why they are still holding on to the BDP as Kwelagobe has declared that those who want to go can do so without any problem," he said.  He said the party still has a lot of work to do in Molepolole, particularly in Kwelagobe's Molepolole South constituency. He however described the other area MP, Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri of Molepolole North, as toothless.

Meanwhile, Mmualefhe pointed a finger at President Ian Khama for triggering the events that led to African National Congress (ANC) Youth League President Julius Malema facing disciplinary action for the utterances he made against Botswana and Khama. He said Khama provoked Malema at a BDP rally in Old Naledi last year when out of nowhere he told the rally that Malema lacks discipline.
