It has emerged that Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) chairman Daniel 'DK' Kwelagobe and another member of the central committee, Kabo Morwaeng did not testify for the suspended party secretary general Gomolemo Motswaledi during his disciplinary hearing, which ended last Wednesday.

Both party officials are allies of Motswaledi, who has been suspended by President Ian Khama. They had earlier indicated to the party that they will be Motswaledi's witnesses. However, another ally of the BDP secretary general, Leach Tlhomelang testified at the disciplinary hearing. The failure by Kwelagobe to testify casts more doubt on his support for Motswaledi given that recently he asserted that he has made peace with Khama.

Although Kwelagobe and Khama recently told a BDP rally in Kanye that they had buried the hatchet, Motswaledi later asserted at a press conference that the chairman has not abandoned him. Kwelagobe provided a supporting affidavit in Motswaledi's High Court case against Khama. He has never entertained media inquiries about his peace deal with the President since the announcement at the Kanye rally.
