DISS chiefs raise eyebrows at OP event

The Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services (DISS) left everyone guessing when its representatives failed to show up at the three-day National Security Strategy seminar held in Gaborone until yesterday.

Senior officers from the Office of the President (OP) could not explain the absence of DISS Director Isaac Kgosi or any of his juniors. The officers said they always invite DISS to security events but they rarely show up. 

However, the permanent secretary in the ministry of Ministry of Justice, Defence and Security Justin Makgonatsotlhe last night said DISS was represented, only that at the time his officers' input was needed, they were not readily available.  "They are part and parcel of what we do at OP.  There is nothing sinister about it," he said.
