DIS to appear before PAC

The parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has summoned the Directorate on Intelligence Services (DIS) to appear before it today.

The DIS has not fared well before PAC after accusations of rampant mismanagement of funds. Lately, the organisation has been reported to be under the radar of the Directorate of Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) following reports of graft.

The alleged lack of accountability and abuse of resources at the DIS has had opposition politicians calling for it to be disbanded.The PAC is currently conducting its 50th meeting, which for the first time, is open to the public.The committee examines accounts and statements prepared and signed by the Accountant General in accordance with the provisions of the Finance and Audit Act as well as value for money reports and management performance reports laid before the national assembly.
