Dikgosi want robe and other allowances

FRANCISTOWN: Customary Court of Appeal President Christopher Masunga has lamented on how they are not paid robe allowances even though they are required to wear robes. Masunga said this during presentation at the salaries commission consultation meeting in Francistown.

Masunga said unlike High Court judges, magistrates, registrars and others they are not getting the allowance although they felt they are entitled to it. "It is our view that since members of the court put on gowns or robes, when in court we should be entitled to robe allowance just like other presiding officers," he said.

Masunga did not highlight a specific percentage for the robe allowance. "We are benchmarking with whatever is given to the judges. There is no specific percentage that we have in mind at the moment," he said.
