Dikgosi resist Masisi's bid to hijack proceedings

An attempt by the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mokgweetsi Masisi to explain 'a few things' to members of Ntlo ya Dikgosi was met with stiff resistance yesterday afternoon.

Apparently the dikgosi felt undermined by the minister who was literally requesting them to flout the rules of the House so he could explain something. Masisi was trying to respond to a motion by Kgosi Kahiko of Gantsi West Region who was scheduled to table a motion requesting government to include children born out of wedlock as dependents of their fathers for purposes of leave travel concession as fathers are also responsible for their upbringing.

However, Kahiko would not table the motion on the grounds that he was unwell but would do so at a later stage, to which Masisi responded by making a request to explain the answer to the House because he felt there was no need for such a motion.
