Dibete road fails deadline

The 83 km Dibete-Mahalapye road that was to be completed in May last year has once again failed to meet the December 31 deadline.

The project started in April 2005 and was estimated to cost P171 million. In September last year, the director of Arab Contractors Botswana, Mohamed Azzab outlined to Mmegi the revised schedule of construction, which put completion date as December 31, 2007. 

Azzab had identified three phases of the project as: the first 21 km section from Dibete veterinary cordon fence fate, that was to be opened on 21 September. The second 31 km section from Mahalapye towards Dibete was to be opened on November 15 while the last 31 km middle section was due for completion on December 31.
