The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) has busted a University of Botswana (UB) lecturer for leaking examination questions to students for cash.

UB spokesman Samuel Moribame told Monitor last week that they have been alerted about the lecturer in the Faculty of Science by the DCEC. Reports say the university has been covering up the scandal for fear of attracting bad publicity. UB  sources say lecturer comes from the mathematics department. He was reportedly busted through one of his students, a daughter of DCEC boss Tymon Katlholo. The student took the matter to the DCEC after reports that the lecturer is involved in an exam selling scam. Sources say a team of DCEC sleuths used Katlholo's daughter as bait to purchase an exam paper at P1,200. The sleuths then stormed the lecturer's office and got the money.

Moribame refused to divulge the details of the case saying it is against regulations to discuss university issues with a third-party.
