Dates set for BMWU elections

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Botswana Mine Workers Union's (BMWU)congress that will elect a new national executive committee has been scheduled for March 27-30 next year in Francistown.

The replacement of the current committee under the leadership of Chimbidzani Chimidza, Jack Tlhagale, Golekanye Mogende and Lentsifetse Masilo could not take place in October as many union members had expected. The committee was elected into office in 2004 and their term elapsed last September.

General secretary Jack Tlhagale said the committee would submit reports of development progress from 2004, audited financial reports and constitutional amendments. He also confirmed that a new NEC would also be elected into office.
