Dangerous suspects delay robbery case

FRANCISTOWN: A Francistown magistrate has rejected an application for a separate trial in a robbery case where some suspects have been declared dangerous.

Edwin Ncube wanted to be tried separately because some of his co-accused cannot come to court unless there is armed escort.  He said the case has been dragging for too long because his fellow defendants are still waiting for the escort. "The state was given the last chance on the last mention to bring the two accused persons and they have not done so and are saying they are dangerous and cannot come here anytime. I would like to apply for a separate trial," he said.

Ncube stated that he does not believe his co-accused are very dangerous since the police managed to arrest them. The suspects are said to have robbed a Chinese businessman on July 19 this year and got away with about P12,000 and $5,000. Ncube was allegedly found with P6,750.
