Dagga trafficker convicted

FRANCISTOWN: A Zimbabwean dagga trafficker, Exhauvia Zindoga, was convicted of trafficking in prohibited substances and ordered to pay P1000 before the end of the day or spend four months in prison.

A bag containing about 140 smaller bags of marijuana and reportedly weighing 716 grams in total was exhibited in court. Passing sentence, Magistrate Thato Mujaji said that Zindoga, at 23, was a youthful offender who had pleaded guilty to the charge.  "The accused could have been influenced by his youthfulness to commit the offence," she said. Mujaji said true as that was, the accused still committed a very serious offence.

The way the dagga is packaged shows that you were going to sell it and it is a lot of dagga weighing 716grams," she stated, saying that a custodial sentence was not called for in this case.
