D-Day looms for civil service salary talks

The representatives of five public service labour unions and government negotiators will meet next Monday to continue the salary negotiation process for the 2015/16 financial year.

According to the Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) secretary general, Tobokani Rari, the negotiations commenced on February 16, 2015 with all sides concluding the engagement rules.

“Parties at this meeting agreed that there is need to engage an independent facilitator of the negotiation process. For the past week, the intense search for the independent facilitator was on and parties have ultimately agreed on the facilitator,” said Rari. He said a second negotiation meeting was held on February 26, 2015 under the facilitation of an independent facilitator.
