'Cyborg' allegedly kills Zim prisoner

Botswana Prison Service (BPS) has confirmed an incident in which a Motswana prisoner, Osego Mosetlhane, popularly known as Cyborg in Gantsi killed his Zimbabwean counterpart at Maun Prison over the weekend. The unfortunate incident took place on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at around 2300 hours.

“A brawl ensued between two inmates in a cell at Maun Prison. The incident resulted in one inmate seriously injured and was immediately rushed to Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to the injuries yesterday, (09 January 2023),” Prison Service Public Relations Officer Senior Superintendent Oagile Kojane stated in a press release.

The deceased is a Zimbabwean national, convict male Michael Phuti (31), who was residing in Magapatona Ward in Tutume. The suspect is a Motswana, convict male Osego Mosetlhane (37), of Kgaphamadi Ward in Gantsi.
