Cyber crime law gets teeth

Last year a few criminals made away with about P3 million by gaining access to the system of a local bank and electronically sending the funds to South Africa. P3 million. No gun blasts.

No fingerprints on broken glasses. No broken doors. No holding hostage amoured vehicles. No car chases. Just a computer hard-drive, a computer screen, a keyboard and probably a mouse. The local financial institutions were quoted  saying they had experienced an increased rate of such attacks.

The computer involved was reportedly taken to South Africa where the country's police officers would conduct further examination.
