FRANCISTOWN: Customers of Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) here have welcomed the newly introduced pre-paid electricity system which was rolled out earlier this week.

In an interview with Mmegi excited customers expressed hope that purchasing electricity over the counter is better than paying monthly bills as it's easier to gauge usage and budget.

They explained that electricity expenses were proving to be a headache, considering that they often received exorbitant bills which took up a large portion of their salaries.  Segametsi Madzonga 38, a resident of Block 8 in Francistown said she was happy with the pre-paid system as it would reduced her costs. She explained that she previously paid large amounts of money to settle her bill but she would now spend a reasonable amount on electricity.
