Cuban ambassador to Botswana, Ramon Medina, died at Princess Marina Hospital on Friday night after he was rushed there after collapsing while giving a speech at a Cuban Conference held at the President Hotel the same evening.

On Sunday a manager in charge at President Hotel refused to talk to The Monitor about the incident saying the general manager will contact this paper about the incident but never did.

However sources tell The Monitor Ramon was giving a speech when he suddenly collapsed. The incident was not reported to the Police, though it happened just a stone's throw from the Central Police Station. Station Commander Superintendent Kevin Mookodi yesterday said he was learning from The Monitor that such an incident occured at the President Hotel.
