Cuba Hopeful Over Blockade

Cuba will submit a draft resolution on the blockade imposed on the country by the United States for over 50 years before the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on Wednesday this week.

Deputy Ambassador of Cuba in Botswana, Norma Sanchez said last week that they are hopeful the resolution entitled "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the USA against Cuba" will receive the support of the international community.

Sanchez said last year, 185 countries voted in favour of the Cuban resolution, "which constitutes an almost unanimous demonstration of the international community rejection of the genocide policy of the US government against Cuba and of the application of extraterritorial laws contrary to the Charter of the UN".
