Court to deliver judgement on threat-to-kill case

FRANCISTOWN: The Magistrates Court here has heard details of how a machete-wielding man kidnapped his girlfriend's 16-year old son, drove to the bush with him and threatened to kill him.

According to evidence presented in court by Detective Sergeant Phirinyane, who was investigating officer for the case, on February 24 last year, the accused, Ogomoditse Lekono (34), went to Mmei CJSS where he coerced his girlfriend's son to get into his car and drove with him to the bush along the old Masunga Road.

It was alleged that on the way, the accused withdrew a machete and told the boy that he was going to kill him and commit suicide later. "Kana fa o bona ke go tsere jaana, ke ya go go bolaya ke bo ke ipolaya (I have taken you in order to kill you and thereafter kill myself)," the accused is said to have told the teenager.
