Court fed up with suspect's 'snake bite' tale

FRANCISTOWN: Since November last year, a burglary and theft suspect has been trying to sell a Francistown magistrate's court a long story about a snake bite.

Now court officials say they have had enough.Chief Magistrate Lorraine Makati-Lesang threw the gauntlet at Tebogo Ramanganeng, 29, that his story had better be true next time, otherwise she is going ahead with the trial, come January 28.Ramanganeng appeared in court this week together with his alleged accomplice Thebe Kwelagobe on a charge of house break-in in Tonota.

He first came up with the snake bite story on November 9, when he told the magistrate that his witness had been bitten by a snake, hence the witness could not make it to court.
