Councillor Kills Theft Suspect

FRANCISTOWN: An opposition councillor (name withheld) is alleged to have shot dead a man, suspected to be a thief, at his home on Friday morning.

Sources close to the investigation disclosed that the councillor was not detained in connection with the incident. It is said that the deceased aged 29, hailed from Tonota.

"There are some rooms at the back of the councillor's home he is leasing out to tenants. Apparently the deceased was in the process of breaking into one of the rooms to steal. The tenant called the landlord who shot dead the thief," said a source.
