Councillor calls for re-branding of Phikwe

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Nominated councillor, Benjamin Bagayi will table a motion during the upcoming full council meeting for the formulation of a new motto and logo for the town council.

Bagayi is contesting for Thakadiawa Ward under the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). A motion he tabled for the change in the logo and motto failed in 1999 but this time, he said he will succeed. He explained that one of his past motions led to the profiling of Selebi-Phikwe.

He said the work of the committee responsible for profiling the town should include re-branding and coming up with a new logo and motto. "It is not the first time for me to come up with this motion. I brought it up during the 1999-2004 council but it was defeated. A motto is a champion of development of any institution and developments also depend on it.
