Council daycare centres to open soon

SELEBI-PHIKWE: There is now a ray of hope that council daycare centres will start operating soon after being locked up since 2007, finally putting to rest the controversy that dogged the outsourcing of the facilities.

The Chairman of the council's Education Committee, Evelyn Kgodungwe, says the tendering process is ongoing and that the adjudication committee is expected to announce the winner at the next Health and Education Committee meeting.

She told Mmegi in an interview this week that the delay in reopening was a result of protests by some of the bidders."It was discovered that some members of the Appeals Board were also implicated," she said. "On top of that, some board members were transferred out of town and filling their positions is a long process."
