Could Phikwe register decreased HIV/AIDS prevalence?

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The ongoing Botswana AIDS Impact Survey (BIAS IV) that began yesterday is expected to indicate changes in the incidence and prevalence rate in the Bobirwa and Selebi-Phikwe districts. The two districts registered high incidence and prevalence rates in past surveys.

Tebelopele coordinator in Selebi-Phikwe, Thobane Morake said the last AIDS survey indicated a decrease in the incidence rate amongst youth in the districts, noting that such an improvement is applaudable. He explained that injected resources and funding would not change infection rate. He stated that the most important thing is behavioral change when it comes to HI/AIDS infection.
