JOHANNESBURG: The Pan African Parliament (PAP) began discussions yesterday after a week of committee meetings. Debating the PAP financial report, Botswana deputy speaker of the national assembly and MP for Kweneng South East, Gladys Kokorwe requested the house to set a task force or commission of enquiry into allegations of favouritism of staff-

members at the institution with some getting promotions before completion of their probation. She said that the unfair treatment has demoralised some staff members and that could send the wrong message to the mother body, the African Union, from which PAP wants to be independent.

Kokorwe accused some members of the PAP of corruption. She gave the example of citing a member who attended the PAP session and never came to any committee meeting only to make a claim to be paid for communication allowance before jetting back home.
