Cop sues govt for P1m over unlawful arrest

FRANCISTOWN: A police officer previously charged with murder is suing the state P1 million for unlawful arrest, detention and malicious prosecution. The officer Tshepo Queen Nnewe, was jointly charged with her boyfriend Atlholang ‘Two Metre’ Mojanki, who is also a police officer based in Francistown, for allegedly killing Bokani Sox last year. Sox was a former nurse at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.

Her partially burnt body was found dumped on the outskirts of Francistown, a few kilometres east of the city.

In her statutory notice to sue dated November 25, 2014, Nnewe’s attorney Shatiso Nlebgwa stated that his client was arrested by Kutlwano police officers on February 5 in 2014.
