Cop Fined For Desertion

FRANCISTOWN: A 38-year-old Matsiloje Police Station constable who claims he deserted work because his life was in danger has been fined P1000. Magistrate Thato Mujaji said that in her view the accused had no intention of going back to work.

"If the accused person was in fear of his life and he could see nothing was being done about it he could have involved higher officials or reported it to the police so that a criminal case could be opened but instead he decided to go on leave and run away from work," she said.
