Conflicting rules leave fishermen with no catch

Local fishermen have complained about conflicting policies and rules governing fishing in Botswana.

They said this has placed them in a precarious situation where they have to either fish during the breeding season or in winter, during which time they catch nothing.

Salim Essack, a professional fisherman  told Mmegi that the fishing industry is capable of diversifying the economy and boosting tourism in Botswana if fishing regulations can be streamlined.
