Conductor escapes jail term

A 21-year-old public transport conductor on Thursday escaped a one-year jail sentence after he warned other drivers of a police roadblock around the Main Mall area.

Monei Moilwa who resides in Maruapula appeared before Urban Customary deputy president Patricia Radipati and was charged with public nuisance and received a suspended sentence.

The court learnt that Moilwa who pleaded guilty to the charge, screamed at the public transport drivers who were driving towards the mall’s First National Bank (FNB) stop, warning them of the roadblock on Wednesday afternoon.
