FRANCISTOWN: Francistown councillors were left wondering yesterday whether the Sir Seretse Khama Memorial Fund is a government department, parastatal or NGO.

During a full council meeting, the councillors demanded to be told why the fund is receiving money from the Office of the President. They wanted to know where the fund has been. The councillors were reacting to an address by a member of the fund's board of trustees Gladys Mokokomane. Veteran Botswana Peoples Party (BPP) councillor and former mayor Motlatsi Molapise said that it must be made clear how the fund came to be funded by the OP.

Molapise was responding to Mokokomane's statement that the fund receives P500,000 every financial year from the government and that the board of trustees are appointed by the President.
