Cleric warns BDF soldiers on media influence

FRANCISTOWN: Botswana Defence Force (BDF) soldiers have been told to minimise getting influenced by the media because it can negatively affect their families.

Speaking at the BDF family fun day at Donga Garrison, Reverend John Ramotshabi said that people have been exploited by Western media to the extent of leaving parental roles to television and other social organisations. He lamented that family ties are gradually breaking up. "Our kids are now faced with many challenges such as drug abuse due to this break up," he said.

He said family ties are diminishing but encouraged participants to renew them so that the bonds remain intact. "As we share ideas, we change for the better," emphasised Ramotshabi.
