CKGR BaSarwa divided over negotiations?

A storm is brewing among people of the Central Kgalagadi Game Reserve (CKGR) over allegations that some of their prominent tribal leaders are engaged in negotiations with the government about a proposed CKGR Management Plan without consulting the general public.

"I hope they are aware of the fact that we residents of Metsiamanong are legally covered to reside in the CKGR," said Smith Moeti. "Everything pertaining to the CKGR should therefore be communicated to us."

Moeti pointed out that people had a lot of complaints regarding the proposed management plan because it does not explicitly state the stake of the residents and that they are not benefiting from services provided by the government in the new resettlement camps outside the CKGR.
