Churches find their voice in HIV/AIDS fight

Fellowship of Council of Churches in Southern Africa (FOCCISA) has launched a project to fight HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination in churches.

FOCCISA regional coordinator, Reverend Pearson Banda from Zambia was in Botswana this week to launch OneBody, a project that has been going on in other southern African countries since 2005.

Banda said that OneBody introduces bishops, pastors and ministers of different churches to new materials to guide them in addressing HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination in churches. He said that churches have continued to discriminate against those living with HIV/AIDS, as they are perceived to have been involved in sinful acts.
