Chinese tussle over P1.5bn tender

The public will get a rare glimpse into how the Chinese continue to dominate the multi-billion Pula construction industry when three leading Chinese construction companies turn their might on each other in court this week.

Sinohydro, Consolidated Companies and Quingian Group, which have been winning major multi-million Pula projects back-to-back in Botswana, are wrestling over a P1.5 billion tender for the North South Water Carrier Project 2 before Justice Mercy Gaarekwe, starting March 9.

At the centre of the wrangle is the tender award decision which has seen Sinohydro removed completely from the picture. Consolidated Companies and Quingian Group have been chosen as the preferred bidder and reserve bidder respectively.
