Chinese investment reaches new high

Zambia will be a rallying point between China and Western countries as the Southern African country holds elections this year.

As China's economy continues to grow, its grip on Zambia is evident on all fronts. Some Western donors have frozen bilateral aid to Zambia at a time China has announced an increase in Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) to Zambia from US$ 1 billion in 2010 to US $ 2billion this year.

DFI flow from China represents an increase of 50 percent in one year and the Asian economic giant's contributions to Zambia's infrastructure and general services have been immense.
