Chinese in court over elephant tusks

A 34-year-old Chinese man was yesterday remanded for importing elephant tusks into Botswana without a certificate, contrary to Section 68 of the Wildlife Conservation and National Parks Act of 1992.

Lui Hongbo, an engineer at Jianshu Company, was arrested at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport on January 15th in possession of the tusks.

Sub-inspector Galekhuti Mashumba of Sir Seretse Khama Police Station told the court that investigations are still at an early stage as the case is new.
