The Chinese community in Botswana on Friday held their annual charity golf day, an event that throughout the years has seen the Botswana Huaren Golf Association (BOHGA) members hit the hole for a charitable course.

The event, organised by the Charity Association of Chinese in Botswana (CACB), the Botswana Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and BOHGA attracted about 45 sponsors and this year’s beneficiary was Cristal Victory Home, a non-governmental organisation that sponsors orphans for tertiary education as well as caring for the needy.

The organisation received a cheque of P10,000 during a prize giving ceremony held at the Gaborone Golf Club. Speaking at the occasion, the Chinese ambassador to Botswana Zhao Yanbo applauded the Chinese community in Botswana for upholding one of the greatest values of the Asian country; giving. “Charity, or extending a helping hand is a very important cultural virtue and value for the Chinese people,” he said.
