It is estimated that 165 birds species and some nine types of game could be pushed out of their Eden of 30 years at the famous birds sanctuary of Nata at the mouth of the Nata River.

Cattle barons, salivating at the abundance of water and potential grazing land that has also seen a variety of wild game thriving there, want the land. According to informed sources the cattle barons who want the Nata Sanctuary land, are not even part of the three communities that own the bird sanctuary, namely the villages of Manxotai, Nata, and Sepako.

The cattle barons are seen as encroachers, made up of cattle owners from Serowe, Francistown, and other far away places. The cattle magnates have since stopped the board of the Nata Sanctuary from continuing with the work of fencing the 230 km square area.
