Catholic Bishop urges Batswana to vote to ensure peace

The Catholic Bishop of the Gaborone Diocese, Bishop Valentine Tsamma Seane has appealed to Batswana eligible voters to vote in the forthcoming general elections.

In a letter addressed to 'all the faithful of Gaborone Diocese and all people of good will', Bishop Seane says: "It is our duty as responsible citizens to exercise our right to choose the leaders and government that will respect human dignity and create better life for all. Botswana is where it is now because it was blessed with good leadership from its birth as an independent state untill the present time when we are still enjoying the good fruits of our good leaders. In order to continue to prosper as a nation we need to preserve this legacy by voting for good leaders."

Bishop Seane, who emphasized good leadership, the role of the church and good governance and the catholic social teaching, defines leadership as a process of social influence in which one person is able to influence and enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task.
