Carpenter claims GCC official assaulted him

A Gaborone West street carpenter, Buyani Palela has said he was assaulted by Gaborone City Council (GCC) employees who were demolishing illegal structures used by informal traders last Saturday. Palela said he is suffering from back pains because of the assault.

 


He said he was assaulted by the leader of the group. He asserted that he was not aware of the council raid until he saw a vegetable vendor dismantling his stall. The vendor told him that he was ordered by the council officers to destroy the structures.
