On paper, her names are Christopher Moemedi Mavoma. But she will tell you her name is Christine.

At the age of 28, Christine, or Chris, has already undergone counselling with a psychologist as one of the stages of undergoing a sex change. She has been to a doctor, who confirmed that she has more female than male hormones. Interestingly, she has developed breasts, hips, big buttocks and a chubby body just like that of a woman, without any drugs or hormone injections. Even her voice sounds like a woman's.

Now that she is done with the counseling, that prepared her for the transition, she will have to undergo tests to determine if there are any medical problems to be addressed before the major step of taking oestrogen hormones, to enhance her female development.  This will be done under the supervision of a registered psychologist and doctor. She is expected to take the estrogen for six years.  After taking the hormones, she wants to undergo surgery and have her sex organs changed to that of a woman.  Even though she wishes to have children, she cannot as she has no ovaries.  Christopher is glad that she will finally change her name to Christine Moemedi Mavoma. She will also have her identity documents, birth certificate and passport changed, together with her sex. This will have to be backed by a doctor's report or proof and a court order that her identity be changed.
