Three cabinet ministers managed to address meetings in Kgatleng this week after being blocked by the chieftaincy in the area, sparking speculation that they (chiefs) might have made a volte-face.

Sources have revealed that the meetings were not without the usual drama of face-offs between the royals and the government ministers, where the latter would be forced to return to Gaborone without addressing the Kgotla meeting.

At a Kgotla meeting in Oodi, the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Patrick Masimolole, reportedly refused to have Bakgatla deputy chief, Sekai Linchwe, officiate at the event saying he was on suspension. The deputy chief was suspended in connection with a case involving the destruction of a cellular phone tower in Mochudi.
